Law & Order cast members on Celebrity Jeopardy

Three cast members of the various Law & Order shows appeared on Celebrity Jeopardy on Friday night. It was pretty funny. Sam Waterston (original), Kathryn Erbe (CI), and Chris Meloni (SVU) competed for their favorite charities while giving their fans something to cheer for and laugh about (as is the case with most episodes of Celebrity Jeopardy). The episode was notable mainly for the idiosycrasies of the cast members: Sam W. seemed fairly bewildered most of the time, Chris M. kept answering before being called on, and Kathryn was having more fun horsing around with Meloni than playing the game. Highlights included their failure to know what controversial novel by Dan Brown begins with a murder in the Louvre,...

Dennis Farina leaving Law & Order +

Not too much of a surprise really: Dennis Farina is leaving L&O to pursue other opportunities. He's a big time movie star, so the move makes sense, I think. It was fun while it lasted. Update: J. Bishop writes to tell us that Milena Govich, from Conviction, will replace Farina: I thought you might be interested in this. I thought the story was wrong and that she'd be replacing Annie Parissie as the new ADA, but story says she'd be replacing Dennis Farina as a detective. I myself wanted Parissie to be replaced with Stephanie March.... Have a good day, J. Bishop www.HelpMeImpeachBush.com...

Yes!! Elisabeth Rohm, aka Serena Southerlyn, Leaving Law & Order

I think there will be a lot of happy fans out there: Elisabeth Rohm is leaving L&O midway through next season, to explore other opportunities. No word on a replacement yet, but this means that there will be two major cast changes for the 15th season.Update: According to Reuters, Rohm is committed to the first 13 episodes of Season 15. Candice Bergen to Appear on L&O Show?

Here's a report from one of the Daily News' gossip columns a couple weeks ago. Also includes a bit about Elisabeth Rohm: Could Candice Bergen be headed back to prime time? The actress, whose beloved "Murphy Brown" show wrapped after 10 years on the air in 1998, had lunch with "Law & Order" producer Dick Wolf this week at La Goulue, a spy tells us. No one's confirming anything, but word is she might play a judge on the latest "Law & Order" spinoff, "Trial by Jury." Meanwhile, "Law & Order" actress Elisabeth Rohm helped host a dinner for her friend Halston designer Bradley Bayou on Wednesday. Among the guests were Rohm's boyfriend, MSNBC hunk Dan Abrams; Sale Johnson and...

Opening Credit Cast Member Screen Shots

Breaking up with one's girlfriend gives you time to do all sorts of important things, such as taking a screenshot of every one of those "cast in motion" shots at the end of the opening credits on Law & Order.View the files in the open directory, or via this gallery. (Click to enlarge.) Below the photos is a textual guide to all of the cast changes over the years. There is something eerie about the visual replaceability of each of the cast members. Note the transitions between seasons 1 and 2, and also seasons 4 and 5. Barely perceptible. Here is a table I made a while ago showing the cast changes: Cast Number Seasons Cops Lt ADAs DA Notes...

No Spin-off This Fall

Law & Order: Trial by Jury, the Jerry Orbach spin-off from the original series, that was supposed to premiere this fall, is missing from NBC's fall schedule! I guess they will rotate it in as a mid-season replacement. However, the earlier rumors that Dennis Farina would join the cast of the original series are true, so we can expect to see him try to fill Orbach's shoes this fall....

The Unthinkable: Jerry Orbach leaving Law & Order?

Bad news people...there are rumors that Jerry Orbach ("Lennie Briscoe") might be leaving L&O. Further rumors suggest he might end up on the new L&O-spinoff Law & Order: Trial by Jury and that Eddie Green will get a promotion. Bad idea all around, if you ask me.Update: These rumors, of course, have now been confirmed, as has the rumor that Dennis Farina will take over the role of the senior detective, as a character named Joe Fontana. Also, Elisabeth Rohm, aka Serena Southerlyn, announced on June 23 that she will be leaving in the middle of next season, the show's 15th....

Encounter with Elisabeth Rohm

My friend Matt sends in this report of a close encounter with Elisabeth Rohm, "Serena Southerlyn" on the original series:A couple friday nights ago I was walking home from work to my apartment on 14th St between 2nd and third. As I approached the corner of 14th and 2nd, I saw a bunch of trailers. Assuming this was a movie that was going to shoot all night, I approached a teamsters looking gentleman and asked when they would start shooting. He informed me that they were with Law and Order and only had another two scenes to shoot. So, I kept going towards my apartment. When I got to the door of my building, I saw a door open on...
